My name is Liliana (she/they) and I am an actor from and based in Chicago. I graduated from Skidmore College with a B.S. in Theatre and most recently completed the ACADEMY at Black Box Acting. Check out the rest of my website for more! Represented by Grossman & Jack.
In May 2024, I played the titular character in Marfa Lights, an experimental play about what might happen to us after we die, who we might meet, and how we might make sense of how it all ended in the first place. See rehearsal photos from Marfa Lights in the gallery! At the end of 2024, I was so so honored to play Marjory, the broken maid with a sinister agenda, in The Moors with an incredible group of artists, set site-specific in a tiny apartment in Chinatown. To the left is a promo photo for The Moors. See more photos in the gallery and some acting from it in my contemporary plays reel! I also played Marie Curie in the reading of a new play by Jeannie Affelder and Maggie Cain called Sister Chemistry, so so much fun!!
Since January, I have had the great fortune to work on a play reading and three short films!
The play, Virtue and Grace, by the incredible Izzy Van Houzen, is a reimagines classic Victoria era tropes in the context of a queer love story, and I had so much fun playing Katherine and the Ladies Maid! The first short film shot was a superhero film called You Not Lightning, in which I played the heartbroken girlfriend of an workaholic superhero, and the other short, It Ends, is a short horror about the dark end of a long-term relationship. In both films, I play the partner who chooses to end things. Typecast, much?
Not quite! In the third short, I played a faded pop star who gives her daughter up and years later tries to find her. Yay!
At the end of October 2023, I and my class of 21 incredible actors graduated from the Chicago renowned ACADEMY program at Black Box Acting in Humboldt Park. It was five months of rigorous conservatory training, studying the Black Box blend of Meisner and Viewpoints, and it was life-changing for me. I am forever grateful for my training and experiences at Black Box, and the life long friends and artistic community I now have. And we have a showcase! Each of us performed three monologues and a 2-person scene. If you want to see my personal page with two contemporary monologues and one Shakespeare monologue, click on this link: https://bbacademyshowcase.squarespace.com/liliana-mastroianni

for my last semester at Skidmore College, my senior project was a 40-minute one person clown show that i wrote and performed in! the title of the show is night static. it is about insomnia and the things that keep us up at night. it utilizes commedia dell'arte, mask work, narrative structure inspired by the Neo-Futurists, and lots of audience interaction. there were three runs of the show in Studio A at the Janet Kinghorn Bernhard Theater. For more pictures, check out the gallery!
this fall, i spent three months in Arezzo, Tuscany studying physical theatre at the Accademia dell'Arte. we learned everything from clowning to commedia dell'arte. it was an experience i will never forget and will carry with me in all future work i do. check out the gallery for photos taken during my time there, including photos from our commedia show, mask making, and cabaret!
this summer i was fortunate enough and honored to work as a Lab Company actor at The Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, NY!
